RKM forced to cancel scheduled surgeries due to water shortage

ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Water crisis in Rama Krishna Mission (RKM) Hospital, Itanagar has forced cancellation of scheduled surgeries due to shortfall in supply to the Operation Theaters.
Water crisis has forced cancellation of the scheduled operations in Orthopedic, Surgery, Urology and Gynecology departments.
"I had to cancel surgeries as there was no water supply in OT", said a doctor who wished to remain anonymous.
"Without water, instruments cannot be sterilized and gowns washed" he said.
He also informed that water crisis has not only affected the normal hospital functioning but also staff quarters.
Another doctor, who was also forced to cancel surgery wanted to know why PHE is giving such low priority to a hospital which caters to the poor patients.
Sources also informed that many staffers are buying water themselves as PHED water tanks are reportedly not supplying enough water to the hospital and the staff premises.
A care giver said that her relative had to be shifted to a private hospital as it was an emergency case.
It is expensive to get a surgery done in a private hospital; she said adding that she had to arrange money overnight for the surgery to happen.
In RK Mission hospital, the expenses are very less and care is as good as any private hospital, she said.
The RK Mission hospital run by the monks of Ramakrishna Math caters to hundreds of poor patients that come from across the state and neighboring state of Assam everyday for free in its OPD and has well equipped operation theatres with more than 200 beds.
15 sex workers arrested from Itanagar hotels

ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The Itanagar police has arrested 15 women including teenagers on Friday evening for allegedly indulging in sex work.
Police raided three budget hotels in heart of Itanagar and arrested the sex workers.
The arrested are from Arunachal, Manipur, Assam and Bangladesh.
While talking to this daily, SDPO Itanagar Techi Hanyir informed that most of the arrested women are from the poor economic background.
"Most of them are teenagers while some are married women with children. After interrogations, we came to know that they belong to poor and broken families, she said.
"In order to meet their financial needs, they became sex workers," the SDPO added.
She said a case is being registered and that such raids will be carried out in future too.

ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh P.B. Acharya has emphasized on availability of health care services to all.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of the 10th General Conference of Arunachal Pradesh Doctors' Association in Itanagar on July 28.
Universal access to minimum and quality health care is not only a social necessity but also an imperative for economic growth and prosperity, he said.
While underscoring that achievers must be givers, the Governor pointed that empowered people must explore ways and means to address the challenges of the society without involving the Government. We need to change our mindsets, he emphasized.
The Governor said that India possess an unmatched heritage represented by its ancient systems of medicine like Ayurvedic, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy which are a treasure house of knowledge for preventive and promotive healthcare.

Informing the Governor that the department has 8000 workforce and 800 health service centers in the State, the Director said it lack modern equipments and expertise. He requested the Governor to influence the Central and State Governments to address the problems.
In his keynote address, Dr. Biman Natung said that APDA has traversed a long journey from its humble formative years to become the mouth piece of the serving Doctors across the State. He urged the State Government to enact the Health and Security Protection Act in the State which will protect not only lives &properties but also the overall Hospital environment as well. He appealed to the State Government to improve the working conditions of Medical staff and address the pay parity of Doctors in the spirit of 'same pay for same work'.

Papum Pare police discuss strategies for better policing
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The Papum Pare police in an emergency meeting on traffic regulation and crime prevention held at Yupia on Thursday chalked out a strategy for better policing.
Addressing the police officers, Papum Pare SP, T Ammo suggested various effective measures against traffic violators. He specifically mentioned for changing the system of challan handed out to the traffic violators.

RUKSIN, Jul 28: Member of Parliament Ninong Ering provided one ambulance each to Ruksin Community Health Centre (CHC), Rani, Sille and Bilat PHCs of East Siang district on Friday.
The ambulances were procured from the MP's Local Area Development Fund.

BRO misspells name, forget to invite villagers

Roing, Jul 28: The misspelled name of Simari village as 'Chimari' on the inaugural slab of the recently inaugurated bridge over Aba River has caused quite a stir and ire amongst the villagers of Simari.
The slab was replaced a couple of days later by the executing organisation, BRO, with the corrected name, after some villagers approached them.
Heta Linggi from Simari village informed that the BRO said that the mistake was made as all the official documents of the organisation contains the name of the village as Chimari and not Simari.
Although the villagers are content now that the mistake has been rectified on the slab, they have their justified worries that the name will remain as Chimari in documents, which might pose problems in future for the village.
The Simari Bridge was inaugurated by MOS Home Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday last. However, as per reports, none of the Panchayat members or villagers were informed or invited by the BRO for the inauguration, which has caused disappointment.

Governor asks JNU to introduce NE language course
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Governor PB Acharya, who visited Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) recently, requested the institution to introduce a Chair or Department for teaching North East Tribal language Certificate Courses. He was speaking to JNU Vice Chancellor, Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar.
Meanwhile, the Governor assured Rs. 10 Lakh and Rs. 5 lakh from Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland respectively for 10 awards in the names of inspiring personalities of North Eastern States. He said that awards will be for two students from north eastern states and rest for other students of JNU.

APCC demands regularization of SSA teachers and Traffic Wardens
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded the State Government to formulate a policy to regularize the services of SSA teachers and traffic wardens.
APCC accused the State Government of showing an apathetic attitude towards the SSA teachers in regularizing their services, many of whom have already crossed their upper age limit for other government jobs.
"Pema Khandu led BJP Government is least bothered about the future of thousands of SSA teachers, who have been discharging duties with sincerity and dedication in various remote and far flung areas," APCC said.
The party also demanded that the services of the Traffic Wardens, who have been rendering commendable services in managing traffic in Itanagar and Naharlagun, should be regularized immediately.
APCC also asked the administration to formulate a master plan for free flow of traffic in Itanagar and Naharlagun.

Sensitization programme on Vector Borne Diseases conducted
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Awareness cum sensitization programme on Vector Borne Diseases (VBD) was held on Thursday in Itanagar
With the advent of monsoon, outbreak of various vector borne diseases(VBD) are expected, therefore it is necessary to conduct such awareness programme so that every person gets sensitized who in turn can sensitize others by disseminating information, said the DC Prince Dhawan.
He directed the DMO and her team to liaise with the IMC to conduct such awareness at various locations within the jurisdiction of each Councilor.
The DC also directed her to issue pamphlets consisting the various do's and Don'ts regarding the preventive measures to avoid the outbreak of such diseases.
The DC further informed that as a preventive measure, an order was also passed directing the Director (Health Services) and DMO, Capital Complex to take adequate measures to prevent water borne diseases/vector borne diseases in the Capital Complex.
The DC also urged the Councilors to conduct regular cleanliness drives and to check garbage management as well as to check stagnant water storage at their respective jurisdiction. He also informed that an order in this regard would be passed, following which regular inspection would be carried out and those found guilty would be faced with penalty upto Rs 1500 per container/tyre etc.
DMO Dr. Tasso Khampu also urged the councilors to cooperate and pass on the information to the residents of their respective wards as they are ones who are connected with the residents at ground level.

As there is no specific treatment for Dengue, people should emphasize more on its prevention, stressed Dr. Lombi.
She opined that the main reason for Dengue in the state was the lack of awareness among people regarding its prevention. She further requested the District administration to check water storage practices, garbage management system and conduct regular monitoring so that Dengue could be avoided.

ITANAGAR, Jul 28: All Kra Daadi District Students' Union (AKDDSU) has informed that road from Yangte to Kua has been cut off from rest of the district after heavy rainfall triggered landslide occurred in various locations.
In a press statement, AKDDSU informed that due to heavy rainfall multiple blockades have occurred in the road affecting vehicular as well as movement of people of Tali and Pipsorang area. The union also claimed that hundreds of people are being forced to stay back in Itanagar waiting for restoration of road.

AEF demands removal of PS
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Following the ruling of the Supreme Court against the Parliamentary Secretaries of Assam government on Thursday, Arunachal Elite Forum (AEF) on Friday demanded for removal of Parliamentary Secretaries claiming that the state has exceeded 15 percent of total strength in the Legislative Assembly.
AEF stated that appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries involves huge financial engagement and is a burden to state like Arunachal which already is reeling under financial constraints. AEF further asked the government to honour the Supreme Court Judgment by discontinuing the Parliamentary Secretaries.

AALO, Jul 28: The Power Department, Aalo division has notified that the 33KV transmission line from Aalo to Kamba will be test charged at a rated voltage of 33KV, anytime after 7 AM of August 2 and will be in operation for drawl of power from Siru, Kamba SHP (2x3MW).
General public, especially those residing in close proximity to the transmission line are cautioned not to touch the transmission line nor even go near it. Livestock owners are also advised to keep their domestic animals away from the transmission line. CCTV in prime locations
AALO, Jul 28: West Siang District Administration will install CCTV cameras at Nehru Chowk Charali, Cooperative Tinali, Deputy Commissioner's office complex, entrance of the SP's office, Circuit House covering SBI Aalo and Police Station Tinali.
The installation work will be completed within a week.
The traders and business community have agreed to contribute the CCTV cameras after a meeting with Superintendent Tax and Excise. DIPRO

Enhance upper age limit
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years would unnecessarily increase unemployment, said All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Engineers Association (AAPUEA) on Friday as it demanded the state government to extend upper age limit from present 35 to 37 years for government job.

Take cue from Pakistan
The Panama papers have rocked the political establishment of Pakistan. On Friday Pakistan's top court disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from office after a damning corruption probe into his family wealth, cutting short his third stint in power and ordering a criminal investigation of his family. Sharif resigned from his post shortly after the judgement. Sharif has always denied any wrongdoing and has dismissed the investigation into him as biased and inaccurate.

A letter to deputy commissioner
Dear Editor,
As one of the students of Siang district, I am very pleased to know without any excitement about the recent job vacancy ad for the post of UDC, LDC, and MTS.
This is not the first time that I am appearing for such exams in our district. It is very sad to know that most of the exam results are predetermined.
From the past record I have experience that:
1. Entire seat belongs to the Elected Leader. Everyone knows it. So the opposition can take it easy.
2. If the paper is set by someone from Siang district itself, then there is no surprise that you will find his son’s and daughter’s scoring above 90%.
3. Those 5-
It is a kind request to conduct the exam for the value of the exam. We being from a poor family do not have any political power or money to buy ourselves a seat. If you feel that this whole idea of this letter doesn’t make any sense then please do a check on all the previous recruitment to get a glimpse of what I am trying to convey.
This is the voice of not just one candidate but the voice of 95% of the candidates.
This may be our one last hope.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteem column, I would like to draw the attention of Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh.
The way WRD Department has recruited Junior Engineers (Civil) whose examination was conducted on 13th & 14th August’ 2016, involves corruption, manipulation, favouritism & nepotism.
The deserving candidates were thrown out of the merit list like a thrash of garbage and undeserved or unworthy candidates were put on merit list by manipulation, favouritism and nepotism.

Your dream of corruption free Arunachal is appreciable and not only I, but many people support it.
I, as an aspirant, don’t want this case to be swept under the rug.

Dear Editor,
I would like to draw the attention of State Project Director, SSA Rajya Mission, Itanagar that the written examination for the post of Accountant which was conducted on July 23 at Govt Higher Secondary School, Kankar Nallah, Naharlagun was not fair.
In Room No one, a guy entered almost 13-
It was clearly mentioned that no candidates, who are late would be allowed entry to exam hall and there was restriction on cell phones and other electronic gadget.
Why did the examiner allowed him inside the exam hall?
